Not much is happening.
Dec. 30th, 2010 03:50 pmLong time no post I know; I've been on holiday - to Melbourne and then to Margaret River - and neither of these things have been conducive to the internet, blogging or riding. In addition, my bike pedals were completely shot, which basically meant I couldn't ride my bike without wobbling and praying. I am speaking like this is past-tense but in fact, I still cannot ride my bike. The pedals that Gianni ordered for me were black, retro-look and glorious. They took ages to find due to pedal axle size... except in the end, it turned out that my pedals are actually STANDARD thread, not smaller, the pedal itself is just smaller. Therefore, I have to wait for another set to arrive. Annoying.
In other news, I realised that there are a number of awesome pictures I have not posted. I have decided to do this in dribs and drabs. The one below is taken on a tram in Melbourne, timed perfectly and executed with the help of my friend Kate. The guy just looked so cool on his sick red bike. Not sure if it is actually a ladies bike, but he was pulling it off!

Girls&Bikes
Dec. 7th, 2010 10:50 amWhat is with all the stylish ladies riding bikes at the moment? It's fantastic! I don't know if it's the weather or what but it's making me very happy. I see at least one a day at the moment and I wish that this blog was legitimate enough that I could ask to photograph them for it, or pull my camera out for a passing shot.
Yesterday I met a girl on an awesome black, custom made bike with mod style clothing and a huge basket on the front. We chatted about bikes and things, and she suggested I check out a place called Pal and Panther on Angrove street. I've never heard of it but I am keen. Apparently they have vintage bikes there and might be able to help me out. I think if I can get a good one, and Gianni can put a hub gear on it, everything will be awesome. So that was nice. She was little too so it gave me hope.
This morning I saw a girl on an old mountain bike in a huge sweater and awesome white globe style shoes.
The other day I say a sweet blue ladies bike and a lady fully dressed up on it.
I've passed a couple of ladies on their bikes on the bike path recently in normal clothes, dresses and boots, and we've all smiled emphatically at each other, like there is hope in the world. It's a nice feeling.
Pedal is really playing up now, making hideous grinding and crunching noises. I need to get that sorted soon but no one has the right thread size pedal for my bike.
Also have plenty of cool images from recent escapades that are bike-relevant and just haven't had the time to post about them. They are beauties so I hope I get to soon.

Nov. 25th, 2010 08:58 amIt's getting so riding into work on your bike is like running a gauntlet of some kind. Let's forget for a minute the flies that dart into your path and try to get in your nose, the trucks that are bigger than your house coming in and out of the stadium, or even the people who look you in the eye before jumping in front of your bike. There's much more than that on the streets of Perth. Much more indeed.
For example, it's not uncommon for someone to remark at me. Sometimes it's a lovely lady who, upon seeing me at the lights in a dress and carrying a hula hoop says "That is a fabulous bike". That's pretty awesome. More often though, it's a pack of what we call bogans over here who yell things out. Some of them are nicer than others saying things like "Keep going darl" as a bunch of lycra clad cyclists thrash me up the cycle path, and as I pass the pedestrians I hear "Man, that is an old bike. That's a really old bike. It's cool!" while others ahead yell things like "you should get a better bike HAHAHAHAHAHA". They couldn't ride my bike if they tried.
Then there are the guys that make you want to swear loudly across the street and maybe take off your little ballet flats and throw them at them. They usually come on an electric bike that takes little or no effort to ride. Not only do they think that they are better than you for expending oh so much engery on their electric bike to pass a little girl on her single speed clunky old bike, they like to do things that involve getting in your way. Like taking up all the room at a pedestrian crossover or even better, pulling infront of you and cutting you off just because they think they are hardcore in their almost pink shirt. Well done.
Then there is the obligatory guy who tries to sneak through the lights in his "I can kill you because I have a car" vehicle, by going over the line and passing IN THE MIDDLE of the pedestrian phase. Today I had a real charmer. The kind who watches the pedestrians pass frantically and then zooms the second they are out of his way, with no regard for cyclist who are coming through. Luckily I moved over and out of his way and glared at him with my evil death eyes. Wanker.
And finally (well sometimes it progresses into the car park itself) coming down into the car park there are the pot holes, ramps, sheets of iron, sand, fork lifts and fresh tarmac that you are forced to avoid, all the while hoping that the guy with the "stop" and "slow" sign will pay enough attention to his JOB and not something else to advise either you or the guy in the massive scoop truck that you guys are about to collide. Thankfully, the scoop truck guy was a lot more switched on.
So at this stage, given that I am still alive, I think it's safe to say that I have passed through the gauntlet and am stronger for it. It doesn't make me want to ride my bike though.
/Rant Over.

There hasn't been much news on the cycling front, other than retrospective cycling news, which I may delve into.
If you would like the trivial variety, you will find it in the story of how I finally lost my shoe. The first time it happened it was inconsequential. I mean, I barely lost it and I was in my driveway. My pedal kicked because of it's stupid stupid internal confusion and I had to put my shoe back on. Yesterday when the same thing happened the experience was slightly different. I was on the cycle path, the shoe went flying off, my bike went over the shoe, 4 lycra clad cyclists rode past and around a little shoeless girl and a shoe. Altogether not the greatest.
Also, people have decided to look right into my eyes for meters and meters and then... walk right in my path. What is with that? Do they have a death by tiny girl wish?
Rode over to the Northbridge festival on the weekend which was nice. Didn't race anyone or run over anyone, though I really did want to.
Left my bike outside and completely forgot about it for a good 4 hours before our house guest of the week Brendan came hefting it up the stairs with his dimpled grin and the sort of look that makes you wish you hadn't forgotten to leave your bike downstairs because he's going to have too much fun with this fact for the next couple of hours.
I enjoyed having Brendan and Liz over this weekend. They did interesting things and were interesting. Many of the interesting things that Brendan did involved walking very slowly with Mark and looking at bikes, talking about bikes in detail and going out for a ride with Mark on his bike at 5.30am this morning. I might be tainted by slight sleep deprivation bitterness, but he did make up for it with the most lude and awesomely awful, orange and blue jersey ever. Liz had stories about riding too as she rides for sport as well. She's also the perfect companion to annoy and ridicule the boys with endless mocking of K's and lycra and do I want to shave my legs? and man I smashed out some K's and then I had a coffee and it was good.I remember her potentially telling a story. Something about a hill... was she rolling down a hill? I can't remember but now I am concerned for her wellbeing and her story. I hope I was adequately concerned at the time.
I hope my new pedals arrive soon.

As promised, I should really properly update about Tweed Run this weekend which was awesome in so many ways!
Here is a link to the dismantle site and blog where you can check out the winners and eventually some shots from the day http://dismantle.org.au/
In short, Gianni came round our place in the morning and we got dressed and headed over to South Beach in Fremantle doing the right thing and talking about brick weilding zombies all the way. The ride through Fremantle to South Beach left a little to be desired by me. It was hot and uphill and I was in heels, but I made it and was blown away by the amount of vintage and tweed that were awaiting us on the grass down there. So many amazing outfits and bikes, so many picnics and so many happy people. Everyone more or less was talking in a toffy accent and saying hilarious things in the spirit of the day... and pretending to smoke vintage pipes. Mark debated getting a coffee for a good half hour while we took photos, looked at bikes and registered, which was awesome because they basically spray painted you a number as you came up. I believe in all there were about 200 odd people there, a little more, so it was a fantastic turn out.

Once the group shots had been taken we all mounted our steeds and headed out over grass, paths, tracks and roads to Fremantle Esplanade ringing bells emphatically and watching the escapades of the tandem bike which was ridden by a couple of very entertaining individuals who did things like try to ride through train gates and yell "COMMIT!" really loudly. Once in the grassed park we moved over and waited for others before riding into the Norfolk lanes festival. Jolly good show.

We were made to pose for various pictures and locked up our bikes and sat around in X-Wray eating great burgers, drinking coffee and making merry, at times with goggles. After this we tried to find out who won, watched people skateboard, I bought a leather vintage sachel for my notebook and we headed over to Little Creatures for drinks, chips and shooting the breeze. Caught up with Ricky there and after a couple of hours headed back to pick up the bikes and see what was going on. There were still many tweedsters around and interesting bikes to be seen. A really cool puff blue one with my pedals on it, which I wish I met the owner of because I want another pair, a guy who handcuffs his bike as a locking mechanism and various cool baskets and trolly's. We unlocked and ran into a bunch of our mates who were ready to see our mates band Carl Fox play over on the main stage. We thought it would be a riot to sit on our bikes up the back and watch the show but weren't allowed and so had to lock them up elsewhere.

The show was really fun and after it finished Mark and I said goodbye to the peoples and headed home on bikes and trains to entertain some more people at home with Hugh Sheridan, Carbo, Gibbo and Supernatural. Goodtimes had by all I say. Chaps.

Odds and Ends.
Nov. 15th, 2010 05:05 pmSo just a quick update today. Mark and I did Tweed Run on the weekend with Gianni and it was so much fun I actually kinda want to be back there right now. Basically, it was held in Fremantle through Dismantle and was a dress in tweed and vintage little bike ride from South Beach to the Espanade and then up to the Norfolk Festival. More on this escapade tomorrow, hopefully with pictures, but surfice to say it was a fantastic day had by all and I can't wait for more pictures to be posted on their site. Streaming down our street with Mark and Gianni in tow, in swish clothes on our awesome bikes was when I started to realise it was going to be a really fantastic day, and the people who won for costumes were amazingly dressed.
In other news, I have, for a number of reasons, decided not to do Ride in Style.
I made good on my weekend ride in red heels and rode into work today in grey heels. Feels a little more confident now in heels on the road so we'll see how long I can keep this up.
Photos and stories tomorrow, until then, 'carry on good fellows!"

Usefulness.
Nov. 12th, 2010 01:54 pmAllergies are really bad today. I'm so tired from sneezing I can barely keep awake.
I wore my riding cape this morning for the first time, classic and exactly what you need on a day with a chilly breeze but warm sun. Haven't sewn the top buckle on yet so I secured it with a little gold kitten broch and it looked fantastic.
Took the bikes on a bit of a jaunt around the city yesterday, Ezra Pound after work for some goodbye drinks, home and then back out to Sparrow for dinner. On the way home the first time I saw another skateboarder a good way ahead of me and just had to race. What is it about skateboarders and me needing to beat them? Anyway, I caught him in the end, but it was tricky. I was impressed with my speed and stamina; Mark was amused.
Tonight I will take it out to Pigeon Hole Vintage for Anneke's exhibition which will be fun.
At the moment, some people at work are trying to convince me to do the ride in style. There will be people making a documentary as well. It's too early in the morning, and we are going to have friends staying with us. Nope, I don't think I am going to do it.
Also this morning, I was thinking, when I wear dresses and skirts and I am sneezy I don't have easy access to my tissues, and when I get into work I can't get easy access to my access card to get into the car park... and as I was thinking this I saw a little pink drawstring bag from my new necklace and became very impressed by the fact that it was perfect. So I rode in today with a pack of tissues and my card in a little bag dangling from my handle bars. I'm all about the usefullness of things.

I know, I know, I have been a bad person.
Nov. 11th, 2010 10:53 amI know I haven't posted on here for a long while, I am a bad person. I am also a person who has been sick with the dreaded teeth of doom and wisdom and therefore didn't have much to post about since there was very little in the way of riding going on. I don't even know where I was at with my updates... something about goggles and bugs and pollen?
Well I am not sure if I said this before but my bloomers arrived and they are AMAZING. I think Mark thinks I love them more than I love him. They are comfy and lovely and confidence in a skirt. I also recently received my cape in the mail and it is also way too cool for words. I haven't worn it out on my bike yet due to pain and heat but it'll happen soon, the weather right now is rainy and cold... but it's the rain part that is the problem because I am not riding in the rain.
Mark went for a ride this morning, and it rained, and he was sandy and wet and that's not how I would like to be. I made things better for him by making him pancakes.
I also received my little mountain bike and clock necklace and it is really cool. I love wearing it.
In more important and clearly relevant bicycle news, The Walking Dead has started which is leading to group viewings of zombies, group discussions about zombies, zombie thoughts creeping into everyday life, persistent and important zombie battling dreams and of course, lists of things that you would need in a zombie outbreak. As mobility is a key issue, I feel that having a bike would be a pretty useful thing in a zombie apocalypse. No fuel other than your own, little chance of breaking down. Good for quick nips around the place and scouting safe zones. This is important stuff people!
In unrelated non-bicycle news, I have been watching Stargate Universe through my haze of pain and I still don't love it the way I love real Stargate and Stargate Atlantis, but I think it's getting slightly better and I think it's trying to fill my Stargate shaped hole that gapes in my heart. I love Rush. And I miss Daniel Jackson. I listened to an audio book yesterday and his voice made me excited and sad at the same time. You don't ride bicycles in space.
Finally, I think Maia would like to see a picture of the goggles that are being sent my way. I can't wait, pollen and flies and bugs will no longer get in my eyes!!!
Started a new Tumblr today in aid of random things and to get some experience in using the platform. Especially because lastfridayinperth (Robyn and I's Space Activation project) is now on Tumblr. Please check them out if you like and PLEASE spread the word especially if you are in Perth. Pages need work but they are a start. Check back.

I have to say, at this stage I am finding it really difficult to use, but we'll see how we go.

No prizes, no ambition, only flies.
Nov. 2nd, 2010 02:21 pmApparently I was not good enough to win anything from the challenge, prizes of which were announced today. This makes me sad... and a little angry.
But moving on to more interesting news, I bought some steampunk goggles to ride in so bugs and pollen don't get in my eyes. I was very tempted to get a gas mask but most people would think that this was strange. Very useful though. Bloomers arrived and are exceptionally good. The make me comfortable and confident that I'm not about to do an unco-Marylin-Monroe down the cycle path. It's goodtimes. Soon the cape with arrive as well, right in time for the worst and warmest riding weather ever. I keep telling Mark I can't ride anymore. Once it gets to inhaling flies season (and honestly it's nearly upon us) I can't ride sans something that is almost a gas mask (I totally should have gotten the gas mask). I wonder if I can get a hat with corks dangling off it or something. I am also seeing about getting new pedals which are going to be sweet as.
My wisdom teeth are playing up currently which basically means a lot of pain and soon to be exploding bank accounts.
I also intend to stitch some paper cranes into my basket at some point. I think that could be cool.

Excellent heels and excellent pedals.
Oct. 27th, 2010 12:03 pmMiller checked out what was wrong with my pedals yesterday and basically the ball barings in my left pedal are COMPLETELY shot. I have thus spent time checking out cool pedals to replace the old ones with on my bike and for some reason I have gotten fixed on blue see through ones. I want them! But they are all out of stock on the interwebs so I am going to have to go to a BMX store at lunch and see if I can hunt anything down.
It's overcast today so I road into work in my new vintage black, mod dress with super long sleeves and a high collar and tie. It's pretty cool. My mother would hate it. Looks pretty sweet on my bike as well.
I want some riding googles pretty bad as well, because things keep flying into my eyes on the road. It's a hazzard but mostly, it's painful and annoying. I want super big aviator ones. HELLS YES!
Also, yesterday on Etsy I ended up buying a piece of cycle jewellery, which is strange because I don't often like it, but this one I just couldn't pass up. It's too nice.
I've also looked through the photos on Copenhagen Cycle Chic and together with Mark have come up with some of our favourite heeled shots to post. Enjoy, and check out their website!

Real girls in real clothes riding in heels. Gotta love that!

Riding heels are riding love.
Oct. 26th, 2010 11:49 amI have been looking at Copenhagen Cycle Chic (http://www.copenhagencyclechic.com/) recently as I found a couple of photographs on my HDD recently that I saved about a year ago of the winning images from that site of girls riding in heels.

I love them.
I intend to have a good hunt through the site and post some of my favourite photos of heels and girls riding bikes in heels that I find there.
It warms my heart and makes me want to live in Copenhagen real bad; mainly because over there what I wear and like to ride in would not be construed as unusual and there would be plenty to aspire to. I had a thought that I would try to take some photos, inspired by this site, of heels that I saw around Perth, but then I realised that there aren't as many women riding here, let along in heels, and I would probably spend entire days seeing no one and on the day I did, not getting a good picture!
As trying to do something similar would probably result in failure, perhaps I should try and take photos of my own heels on my bike pedals? Or cute shoes that other people at my work wear when riding in? Hmmmm... I'll have to hunt and it'll probably take a while, but I will try.
In the mean time, this is a photograph taken by my good friend Frog Delacroix of my little red heels and my bike.

On the weekend I was practising Hoola Hooping indoors (mistake) and I managed to forget I put a giant toothed clip down on the floor and landed on my back on it. It hurts REALLY bad, and I don't think Mark believes how bad it hurts. It is making me suffer.
And so this post is about what happens when you elect not to cycle rather than to cycle to your chosen destination.
On Friday night I nipped off to see a friend after work, then to the Bird and then to have dinner with Mark, his bro and girlfriend. Having my bike meant that we made it there well and truly on time when walking would have resulted in us being late. Similarly we did not have to pay for parking, and beat them back to our place. We smashed the car in the traffic. Score one for bikes. Or maybe that is a double score; I don't know. Score 2 for bikes.
On Sunday we elected to walk to Oktoberfest rather than ride. We figured someone might trash the bikes or something. Mistake. Because at 10pm when you've been there too long and you are wearing wedge heels, a bike looks a lot better than an ouchie, sneezy, slow walk home. Worst. Score three for bikes, score nil for walking.
This morning I nearly didn't ride. My back was achey and I was awake half the night so I was sleepy. I didn't want to carry my bike down the stairs and it actually hurt carrying it down, so I cursed myself for deciding to ride... however, my bike means I got to work early, can leave early and will make it home faster. All of these things are a win; and I can do this in a spotty, vintage, nurse like dress which makes me pretty happy. Score 4 for bikes.
In other news, a lot of my Etsy stuff has arrived so pictures when I get around to taking them and loading them but they were all lovely.

What do I have to post about today? Well, starting early never helps because I haven't given myself enough time to result in things bike related happening. I am happy, however, to ramble about pointless things that don't concern the majority of people.
This morning, on the way to work, I saw a guy on a skateboard. He was far in front of me and going with impressive speed. I don't know what snapped in me but between the street leaving my house and getting to the trainstation I needed to beat him. I powered along as fast as my little legs could take me, and eventually, I got there. I think part of me regretted it a little, moving that fast on my bike is burny in the glutes, but in the end it was probably totally worth it.
Some of the pictures have now been added to the blog which makes me feel I have achieved something. How much something I have achieved is for you to say, but I am feeling pretty good about it.
I spent a good portion of time yesterday getting a riding cape for Jo at her request. Of course my computer loves to make my life hard when it's having a bad day so it took a lot longer than it should have, painfully long actually, but I got there in the end. It is the coolest riding cape I have ever seen.

I intend to get one as I am currently riding in a poncho. Cool as it is, I think I want something a little cooler.
In conclusion, yesterday the news came out that Wicked is coming to Perth and this makes me very excited and very happy. In aid of this I am going to post a Star Pin Up with this entry, Kristin Chenoweth, the original Glinda in Wicked. I have no idea where this is from but it's fun and yellow and I am excited.

Bringing bloomers back.
Oct. 21st, 2010 02:57 pmA quick update today about bike style. I have seen and have been directed to the Cycle Style website http://cyclestyle.com.au/ and there are some cool things on there. Personally I have found that there are better things and a wider range on Etsy and I love what I find over there. Today Jo and I were looking at some riding capes and I very nearly bought one. So did she. If I was to suggest checking anything out for cool vintage or hand made accessories and clothes it would have to be that space.
I am very much looking forward to my awesome bloomers ariving in the mail. They are going to be epic for riding in skirts so when that inevitable gust of wind blows up the skirt, there will be amazing bloomers underneath.
I should update with photographs of the pin ups soon; I am being slack. Really I think there is very little time between work and faffing about.

What to say today? The challenge is over, life seems pointless, all of those powerful things.
This isn't entirely true; the challenge is over yes, but life does not seem pointless because of that.
The rest of Saturday was quite good, dinner with Mark's brother and girlfriend and after they left, a jaunt down to the Amplifier to see The Bullet Holes play. Very good boys - they are a bunch of my friends - but towards the end I started to feel tired and ill and so we left pretty soon after they played. I couldn't tell you if it was a mystery illness, gas or the many hideous outfits that were spilling into the streets or the awful comments many of said people were making generally. Nonetheless getting home was of great solace to me.
Sunday involved a sleep in and a number of chores that were made more bareable by the consumption of homemade pancakes dressed with a stolen lemon. I then got into my most girlie, sping time, handmade frock and we took off for Fremantle on our bikes. I have to say, for someone claiming to be the least girlie of girls, and watching Iron Man 2 in front of him, Mark's brother really must think I am insane because I wore two of the girliest dresses I own in front of him. Not the point.
We took the bikes to the train station and headed to Fremantle. I was going to the super awesome vintage market that was on that afternoon. That was my aim. Mark came for a very short amount of time and then went to see his bro. I don't blame him. I blame him a little. Well, it was his loss because there were some amazing shirts and sportscoats that I found later that he missed out on. For myself, I was a little bummed because I didn't get a handbag I wanted while trying to get money out, and a dress I wanted looked a bit wonky on me. I did in the end though, chat to some awesome girls and pick up a couple of sweet dresses and a belt and scarf.
Had dinner at Little Creatures, trained back to Perth and rode home. On the way there was a girl taking photos of a wall (I am not saying anything) who then freaked out when she saw me in my dress on my bike and took a photo of me. It's a strange felling.
It's now Wednesday, my law man duties are over and I am back working just for the Man. I have been riding in consistently and now it's raining we're going to have to reassess the business of getting home. Bike is still clicking like mad, but Mark suggested maybe getting new pedals so more on that when I make a decision.
In other bike news though, I found a video of a bicycle ballerina. It blew my mind so give that a google/youtube search - if I remember I will post the link here.
I also found out about the fremantle Tweed ride http://dismantle.org.au/ We are thinking of doing it. It looks pretty cool and we get to get frocked up for it. I think around that time there is also a vintage market on in Clarmont which I can post about here later. Ties in quite well. Bianca better get a prize for her awesome retro-ness. I got nothing in the sweeps for this challenge thing. Nothing! And now they are asking for blogs for their page? No. They won't even read them I bet.
Nothing in the way of Star Pin ups for a while until I get to the point of uploading the others to the previous posts. I have less time to do this stuff than I would like, but I shall persist.

A fantastic list of achievements.
Oct. 16th, 2010 05:37 pmYesterday I rode to training in a very uncomfortable, yet stylish dress. I was not aware prior to dressing that the dress was inappropriate to ride in, let alone that the addition of heels would make it all the more challenging. I made it there in one piece and the bike didn't get stolen though I am not sure how high my skirt had to be. My achievement 1 for the day, Mark told me I looked very good in my little dress and heels. Win.
During the lunch break I took the bike to 78's for lunch and the comic book store where I bought cmics, hung out with Gianni and planned the following day. As I headed back to training my wheel grazed an uneven piece of footpath. The bike very nearly came out from under me but to my luck and as a result of what is clearly sheer skill, I stayed on, in tight dress and heels and then approached the edge of the curb, realising it did not decend to the road, a hallmark of bad design. I managed to turn and break without dying or falling off. Achievement number 2 of the day, did not stack despite inappropriate clothing and paths.
Made it back to training where I locked up my bike and straightened myself out. On of the people walking into the building looked at me back and forth about 4 times and then, realising that I had ridden in the clothes off my back, proclaimed "that's AWESOME" a a little too loudly, and looked immediately at his shoes when I noticed. Achievement number 3 of the day, compliments from strangers on the awesomeness of my skill/bike.
After training I headed back to the office to pick up Mark and dinner food. We had to go past the Foxtel lap thing, which is ridiculous, and there were a bunch of cheerleaders practicing right in the walkway with no regard for pedestrians, riders, ladies with prams or anyone else for that matter. Mark got off and took his bike around them on the stairs but I was enraged. My dress was uncomfortable and getting on and off is a pain, and anyway, what did they think they were going? Are their cheers more important than the people around them? Are they better than us? Us with our bikes and our prams and our full length clothing. I did not dismount or carry my bike with all it's loot upstairs. I sat upright and proud and rand my bell loudly, reminded them of where they were, and they departed my path appropriately. It was a good feelig. Achievement number 4 of the day, made cheerleaders move for me with the power of the bell. Amazing.
Apparently Frog's sister saw me riding around the city.
Today Gianni came over to show me his fixi in person. It's very very very good and makes me want to wear matching clothes and ride with him. The brakes squeak but you can see it as a warning mechanism and frankly, you can also see it's a labor of love. Mark had a go on it and didn't blow out his thong or die down a hill so that is a start. Apparently though, I found out about an accident he had a few years ago. More on that in a later entry. I need some further information. They sat around talking and looking at Fyxomatosis - I think it's called, I have no idea if that is how you spell it - I don't want to be quick to judge but I certainly don't see the appeal of the images that are taken. They don't do anything for me.
And speaking of pictures, I am going to upload a couple of Star Pin Ups soon. Eventually the final 3 of the week. These will however, not be included here because there is not enough space for me on the site under this profile and as it's the last weekend of the challenge there really is no point. You can eventually find them over on my Dreamwidth blof space which is closer to being ready.
In other news I have achieved my goal and ridden over 100KMs this cycling challenge which is great news for me. Still have another couple of potential rides over today and tomorrow so this will go up a little.
Hope the weekend is going well for everyone. Now I will go back to my duty in being a good host today for Mark's brother who is over from Melbourne. We are all headed to Freo tomorrow for the vintage market which should be fun.

Today is nice. I am sitting at home drinking ginger tea, eating a brownie that was baked by my boyfriend, looking at etsy, listening to Blink 182 and Ben Kweller and getting laudry done. One could say all my senses are engaged. The law man is still paying my wage, but I am allowed out tomorrow for what should prove to be some interesting training, and therefore I hope I don't run into road works.
I rode to work yesterday but not to any of the ride to work gatherings, I had too much on. B is still clicking her little heart out so Mark and I hae been talking about getting her serviced at Cycles Bespoke, which I have to investigate as soon as the law man allows it. I think she could use a good service anyway. Mark DID manage to attach the valve cap I have failed to put on for the better part of the year. It's a little gold dice. I like it.
I have been racking up the KMs with my new commute route and with going to the climbing gym yesterday and such. This makes me excited because it means that just maybe I will get to the 100KMs mark. If I am right, I currently sit just under it. I should be like 5 away or something! YAY! GOALS TO BE ACHIEVED!
I also need to secure my basket in a new way because it's not really liking me currently.
With reference to the title of this blog post, I was riding through the park on the way back from the climbing gym last night when a moth fluttered into my mouth at extreme speed and proceeded to try to take an expedition down my throat. It was a fast reaction to spit it back out. I hate it, I hate it as much as I hate the wind.
It's nearly all over and so, I am adding today and yesterday's Star Lady Pin Ups with slight saddness as this is all about to be over as an event. I'm going with a casual blacks feel for yesterday and today and have therefore chosen Jessica Alba on her sweet push bike with cute blue crochetted beanie and Angelina Jolie with black top and leggings both in ballet flats. Nice, sleek and simple on a bike.

I'm hoping that the ride to training tomorrow goes well, that I crack the 100 and that I eat no further bugs. I am also hoping that the Sunday vintage market will prove a fitting end to the challenge. Reports will keep coming for the next 3 days and then full move to DW will commence.

On the weekend the bike proved useful. One Movement festival was on on the foreshore, so it meant that cycling was had on the weekend in style and also that I was introduced to the the true enemy of the cyclist; wind. I thought I knew about wind on a bike, it's hard and it's annoying. Oh no. I believe my KMs for the Saturday of riding should be tripled. I was being buffeted side ways, I couldn't take a hand off the handle bars, if I rode into the wind it was like riding under water. It was terrible. That aside, we made it in one piece, parked the bikes and saw Ben Kweller before heading up to the city, having dinner and going to see our friends band play. Good night. Sunday it was freezing and rained on and off all day. Soggy helmets is what I learned about on that day. It was pretty bad. And soggy. But the music was good and I worked up some more KMs.
Monday marked the beginning of my law man service. I still get more scared about parking my bike near government buildings than I do near an oval near a festival or outside a pub. Weird. Anyway, I can't talk about it all right now but it's very interesting and you should all want to know about it.
It's now my second day in, I have just done the gauntlet of a thousand sneezes for about the 7th time today, I have pondered my hate of spring and decided that I also hate the city when it's being ripped up and rennovated because all the dust hangs in the air, I have bought new shoes and I am getting ready to make dinner.
When I can breathe again I am sure I will have more to add.
Very quickly though, I will say, tomorrow is cycle to work day and I don't know if I will make it to any of the events, though I will ride to the law man. The law man is work right now. They didn't give me any prizes for my picture or blog in the prizes that went out recently, so I feel that any attempt to see vintage bikes and ride to the Glamour Push stall would be wasted currently for a number of reasons. Also, I have the opinion that my bike is cooler than the ones that I am going to see and for some reason in my sneezy miffed state I don't want to subject her to that. So I will ride, in style, but probably not to Council House.
Finally, my 2 Star Pin Ups for the week so far are sporting some corporate style gear in hommage to the law man week. Cate Blanchett cruising by with style and skill on a bike in converse chuck taylors, an awesome photo that I must also reference was posted on the Dreamwidth Bicyclette blog. I love it. Similarly the comic genius Simon Pegg is the other Pin Up in a grey suit and chuck taylors as well, but with a rather amusing bike! Enjoy

Similarly the comic genius Simon Pegg is the other Pin Up in a grey suit and chuck taylors as well, but with a rather amusing bike! Enjoy
