lemmings: (My fandom rides in style.)
The weekend was riddled with success; Collingwood won the Grand Final (it was considered a success in my household, please don't hold it against me), Merlin and Supernatural were both very good, Jacinta's birthday party was fun and Oktober Fest at work provided me with some great pretzels. The greatest success, however, is awarded to cycling to a date at 2 Fat Indians in a little black dress and little red heels. This is the first time I have ridden on the road through round abouts and in Glory pedestrian traffic in heels and I have to say, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I am proud of my success and Mark seems to think that being able to ride out in stunning clothes on a date is living the dream. There's nowhere to go after this it seems. I'll upload a picture that he took of me with my bike and you can judge for yourselves! Maybe

The cycling Road Championships were on and I watched the last hour and a half. It was pretty good. I won't bore you all with the details, but let's just say it was a close finish and exciting at the time. An Australian picked up the bronze which is great considering this year the Championships were held in Geelong.

Work on the separate blog space has continued with a couple of hours of trying to hunt down appropriate icons to use. Would you believe that people photograph the most stunning things for stock icons but not bikes? It's amazing! Yes I am geek speaking, I am sorry. But I did find one of the Supernatural boys on a hilarious tandem bike, one of a couple of the Skins girls riding, an Ellen Page one and a Flight of the Concords one. Until I can get to making my own these will serve me well I think. I also found an amazing Ellen Page wallpaper which I will mess around with in the days to come.

In Pin Pals news, tonight is a Pin Pals dinner which will be nice, and Angela's boyfriend has designed cool Pin Pals shirts using the Marylin picture in the Star Lady Pin Ups folder. It's looking super cute and hopefully there will be an example of one by the end of the week. We also have a movie event which will be nice depending on what is happening with One Movement Festival.

I wonder, since I have now ridden to places such as training, concerts and dates during this challenge, if I should be setting myself other goals of places to take my bike...

While I ponder this conundrum, please check out the days Star Lady Pin Up, Miss Kelly Brook. I has no idea who she is really, aside from being an actress, but she has some serious style and seriously rides her bike in MASSIVE heels. I feel this is in keeping with my story about lovely dresses and riding in heels (though I could never ride in those) and so one of her many incredible shots will be uploaded momentarily.

Hopefully pictures from dinner will go up tomorrow, depending on if my batteries die. Fingers crossed!

So as you will now all be aware, the footy was a drawn match, the pollen of doom is still at large and the work bike lock up is still too full. I would like to say that I spent the weekend cycling but I didn't. I folded paper cranes, I tried to stop my boyfriend from football induced combustion, there were too many pies, I read comics in a coffee shop and introduced Mark to the wonders of Good Omens, and I went to a concert. Good weekend... aside from the allergies. Oh the allergies. I hate going outside. I FEAR going outside. I wake up in the middle of the night snotty. I cannot breathe and I cannot open windows. It's awful.

But back to what the blog is actually about (cycling...) I took B out yesterday because it was my duty to contribute to my team. We went for a roll to the shops in the sun which was lovely, and then at night we rolled over to William Street for dinner and then to the Amplifier for Regurgitator. It was pretty cold, but the ride was pretty good. I enjoyed waving at Callum from my perch on my bike while riding off down the street. He'd never seen me on my bike and the chortle he let out (and it really only could be called a chortle) was warming to my heart. I've also been practicing riding more on busier roads, but at night. I figure that way I will be more prepared if I feel like riding on them during the day because I will know what is coming.

This morning I am in an allergy haze, but I rode into work anyway. I think I was going faster than normal because I was having to break a lot harder. Note to self; when you have allergy haze you get a lead foot Miss.

We're going to a lecture at Murdoch Uni tonight about a woman who lead an expedition team in Antarctica for 9 months. It's going to be really awesome. Would take the bikes up there but I think B might roll back down the hill, so we'll see how the night time goes. If we go to Ricky's after, I have a feeling that they will stay here.

Also, I hear I missed yet another Don Draper opportunity. I have Mr. Miller to thank for that one. It's a shame because he's looking very well dressed.

As there was a public holiday, I will upload two Star Lady Pin Up's today. As a lot of people who read my blog are TrueBlood fans, and as the TrueBlood convention was this weekend in Melbourne and Sydney, I am uploading a picture of Anna Paquin, casually cycling on one of her many Hello Kitty bicycles. The treat (if that's what you would call it) is that this photograph also has Stephen Moyer, whom I believe is also on the show, in it. Given that this weekend was also the start of a new season of Supernatural, the other Star Pin Up is Danneel Harris, now wife of Jensen Ackles, looking lovely and casual on her tandem bike with Mr. Ackles. A couple of examples of girls casually cycling in casual clothes, which really is the whole point isn't it?

Here's to another week of Grand Final anticipation, allergies, getting yelled at for where you lock your bike and avoiding getting glassed:/
