On the weekend I was practising Hoola Hooping indoors (mistake) and I managed to forget I put a giant toothed clip down on the floor and landed on my back on it. It hurts REALLY bad, and I don't think Mark believes how bad it hurts. It is making me suffer.
And so this post is about what happens when you elect not to cycle rather than to cycle to your chosen destination.
On Friday night I nipped off to see a friend after work, then to the Bird and then to have dinner with Mark, his bro and girlfriend. Having my bike meant that we made it there well and truly on time when walking would have resulted in us being late. Similarly we did not have to pay for parking, and beat them back to our place. We smashed the car in the traffic. Score one for bikes. Or maybe that is a double score; I don't know. Score 2 for bikes.
On Sunday we elected to walk to Oktoberfest rather than ride. We figured someone might trash the bikes or something. Mistake. Because at 10pm when you've been there too long and you are wearing wedge heels, a bike looks a lot better than an ouchie, sneezy, slow walk home. Worst. Score three for bikes, score nil for walking.
This morning I nearly didn't ride. My back was achey and I was awake half the night so I was sleepy. I didn't want to carry my bike down the stairs and it actually hurt carrying it down, so I cursed myself for deciding to ride... however, my bike means I got to work early, can leave early and will make it home faster. All of these things are a win; and I can do this in a spotty, vintage, nurse like dress which makes me pretty happy. Score 4 for bikes.
In other news, a lot of my Etsy stuff has arrived so pictures when I get around to taking them and loading them but they were all lovely.
